Before the departure

Depending of the airport there are several activities you can do while waiting for your plane's boarding. Remember to pay attention to your flight's status on the monitors. Go to the gate immediate when it says "go to gate” referring to your flight. It might also be a good idea to know where the gate is in advance. Walk to the gate before you do anything else so you will know where it is and how long time you will need to reach it. Keep in mind that sometimes the departure gates are changing during your wait.

Shopping

If you are shopping in duty free shops, you will need your boarding pass. Remember that not all passengers are eligible to shop duty free goods. If you do not know if you are eligible, ask the clerk.

Lounges

Visit the lounges if you have a ticket or membership card that grants you access. Usually business and first class tickets give you access to the lounges. Membership cards might be diner's club, frequent flyer card or a separate purchased lounge access card. Waiting in a lounge is the most comfortable way to spend your time at the airport. Lounge facilities usually include free snacks and beverage, office access, television, smoking zone, better toilets than the rest of the airport and comfortable seats.

Toilets

Use the toilets at the airport rather than the toilets at the plane.

Other facilities

As mentioned above, the facilities vary between the airports. In addition to what already mention it can be children playrooms, business centers, internet cafe and pubs.
