Before you can enter the security zone, a part of the airport solely for departing passengers, you will have to pass the security check. The security check assures that no passengers are carrying dangerous items. Read about dangerous items in the Packing Your Baggage Section.
To avoid being body searched and delayed you can take some precautions before entering the security check:
When you arrive at the security checkpoint, you will have to present your boarding card and your identification
Next, you will have to put your carry-on bags and your jacket on the belt to the x-ray machine or deliver them to the security personnel. Security guards will x-ray your bags and jacket. The security personnel often run the x-ray check several times to be sure that you will not carrying any dangerous goods. If the security personnel suspect that your luggage has any dangerous or prohibited items, you will have to open the bag and let a security guard examine them.
If you still are carrying any metal items, i.e. coins, in your pockets put them in the bin beside the metal detector. If there is no such bin, ask one of the security guards where to put the objects.
Finally, you will have to walk through the metal detector. If the metal detector detects metals, it will set of an alarm. A normal procedure is that a security guard is asking you if you are carrying any metals. You might be asked to remove items like belts or shoes before re-entering the metal detector. If the metal detector sets off an alarm it is mot likely that a security guard, of your gender, will body search you.
You will able to enter the airport's security zone when you have passed the security check. The security guards have the authorities to deny you to boarding your plane. Do not make any jokes, i.e. "I am a terrorist" or "I am carrying a bomb" to the guards since they have to take everything you say seriously. Threat the guards with respect and answer polite to any question they will ask.
