airline-ticketsIssues Regarding Airline Tickets

Airline Tickets type

There are mainly two types of airline tickets: Electronic Tickets (e-tickets) and the traditional paper ticket. Most airlines today issues mainly electronic tickets. With electronic airline tickets, an identification card, approved by the airline, is your airline ticket. Examples of valid identification might be Passport, Credit Card, Drivers License, Frequent Flyer Card, etc. Always ask the issuer about valid identification. Some issuer might give you a traditional paper ticket on request, but these tickets are usually more expensive than e-tickets.

What you need to know before ordering your Airline Ticket

What ticket class do you want?

Most airlines use three basis classes for tickets: Economy, Business and First Class. All of these classes have their own subclasses. The main rule is that lower class means cheaper tickets and less service. Economy Class tickets are often not re-bookable. Having a Business Class Ticket or a First Class Ticket, you will get better service at the airplane and often entry to lounges at the airports. Ask the issuer about the different tickets available.

Do you have any special need?

If you have any special needs, i.e. if you are using a wheelchair, traveling with children, etc., give this information when booking the ticket.

Do you need special ordered meal?

If a meal is included in your ticket price and you will need a special meal (vegetarian, non-lactose, etc.) give this information when ordering your airline ticket. Note that not all airline routes offer meals.

Do you want a window or aisle seat?

Usually you will choose your seat (if available) when checking in. However, many airlines offer you to choose your seat while ordering your tickets. Windows seats are the most comfortable for most first time flyers, but tall persons flying on economy class often prefer aisle seats.

Ask for a travel itinerary

If you buy your ticket from a ticket office, ask for a travel itinerary. If you bought your tickets online, print your itinerary. Travel Itinerary usually contains all the information that is easy to forget: the terminals planes are leaving from, flight times, reservation numbers, transfer information, etc.
